FIRST IN-STORE PERFORMANCE OF 2009

Thanks to everyone who came out last Friday night (March 27) for our first in-store performance of 2009. Thanks again to Rodney Decroo (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Jon Wood (tasty lapsteel accompaniment) for dropping by and playing a fine set of originals from the Rodney Decroo songbook. The highlight of the set for this listener was their extremely touching version of War Torn Man, a song written for Rodney’s dad, a war torn Vietnam vet.

Charlotte Gainsbourg

David Dye sits down with French chanteuse, Charlotte Gainsbourg, on this edition of World Cafe Words and Music from WXPN. The daughter of French singer, Serge Gainsbourg, and the British actress, Jane Birkin, Charlotte has gone on to embrace both of her parents' occupations. Though better known as a film star, she began singing professionally at age 13 and collaborated with the French band, Air, on her last two releases. "IRM," Charlotte's new disc, was produced and written with Beck, and in this interview she'll illustrate what that partnership was like.
